Some kids use their long break from school for school

Some kids use their long break from school for school: "A PowerPoint presentation casts a dim glow over the upturned faces of 10 people sitting around a table, notepads in their hands and pie charts printed on sheets of paper in front of them.

They nod and take notes as a development director gives a presentation on the work his nonprofit does and the additional financing it needs.

But instead of suits and ties, these people wear T-shirts and blue jeans. Some have braces on their teeth. Most aren't old enough to drive, so they arrived at the meeting in a white van driven by their group leader."

Not too bad for an 11-year-old who will enter seventh grade this fall."
