Are Investments in Experiential Jewish Education for Teens Worthwhile?
Are Investments in Experiential Jewish Education for Teens Worthwhile?: We know from program evaluations by the Foundation for Jewish Camping and individual camps that summer camp has a positive impact on teens’ Jewish identity as well as on their Jewish education.
But how are the various experiential efforts to engage teens – philanthropy circles, volunteer programs, youth groups – faring in terms of Jewish education?
This question and others are behind our decision to conduct a comprehensive, independent national evaluation of Moving Tradition’s signature program, Rosh Hodesh: It’s a Girl Thing!

MOSI-PNC piggy bank campaign to foster philanthropy in children
MOSI-PNC piggy bank campaign to foster philanthropy in children: ositioned in MOSI’s lobby is a “pig pen” filled with piggy banks waiting to be picked up, taken home and handled with consideration and kindness. Each one comes with its own set of feeding instructions, namely that the piggy favors meals of quarters. But dimes, nickels and pennies will also help fill its tummy.
When there’s no more room inside for its nourishment simply return the plum-full piggy bank to MOSI by April 25 and trade it in for another, plus a ticket for two – one child and one adult – to the May 3 Children’s Gala from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Cavalier Daily :: CONNOLLY: More than “voluntourism”
The Cavalier Daily :: CONNOLLY: More than “voluntourism”: This spring break, I had the good fortune to attend an Alternative Spring Break (ASB) trip to San Juan, Texas. My experience was phenomenal. And I was not alone in this assessment; each person I asked told me that his or her ASB trip was exceptionally fun and worthwhile. I would highly recommend the ASB experience to any University student.
