Explore Baltimore County: New buildings go up while school's longtime fixtures move on: "Robin Schneider, an eighth-grade teacher at St. Mark School, said she recently nominated one of her former students, Evan Smith, for a 2009 Outstanding Youth Fundraiser Award from the Maryland chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
'He is a promising youth with a big heart,' she said.
In her nominating letter, she praised Evan's efforts in planning, purchasing and making costumes and scenery for a Haunted House in October of 2007, then donating the proceeds to the family of a neighbor after Brad Benefiel, a resident of Smith's neighborhood, suffered a horrible choking accident while vacationing in Ocean City."
