Calgary announced as host city for We Day youth event in fall: n 1995, the Torontonian stumbled on a newspaper headline about a 12-year-old Pakistani boy who had escaped child labour to fight against child slavery. The boy had been shot and killed, and a shocked Kielburger was inspired to continue the boy's fight.
He enlisted the help of his Grade 7 classmates, and Free the Children was born.
