Ride of the Mustang reaches $500,000 goal for cancer research | Local Sports | Airdrie City View: "Founded in 2011, the event has become one of the top fundraisers organized by students in Alberta, with all proceeds going towards the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation to benefit the support of children’s cancer research.
According to student organizer Breanne McPhee, the “Ride for Five” target could not have been attained without the last minute partnership with École Edwards Elementary School, which had 500 of its students taking part in 10-minute intervals on tricycles.
“It’s been fantastic to see the entire community behind the cause,” said McPhee. “It just goes to show regardless of how young or old, or how big or small, you can still make a difference for a great cause.”"
