Hutchison girls honored for mentorship � The Commercial Appeal: Hutchison juniors Lockie Dearman, Katie Fleckenstein and Mary Sanford McClure were awarded the 2012 Youth in Philanthropy Crystal Award by the Memphis Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
The AFP recognized the trio for their "Sustainable Youth Mentoring Program in collaboration with Girls Inc."

Nine-year-old girl raises more than �82,000 for Mary's Meals

Mary’s Meals, the charity that is benefiting from funds raised by the Scottish school dinner blogger Martha Payne, has decided to name a new kitchen after the blog, which has raised more than �82,000 for the charity.
The blog, called NeverSeconds, hit the headlines last week after the nine-year-old Payne was banned by Argyll and Bute Council from taking pictures of her dinners as part of a daily review of her school meals.

Lower Merion Students Find Welcoming Arms in Haiti | The Philly Post: Eighteen students from Lower Merion High School, including myself, recently returned from our “trek” to a village in Haiti to build a school, and the experience changed me forever. After spending a year raising $66,000 for the project and brooding over my fears, I could not have been more fulfilled by the “trek.”

Local students chosen for global youth forum: Five local students will join a group of hand-selected students from across the world at Usher’s New Look Foundation 2012 World Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia from the 19th to the 23rd of June.
Championed by the local NPO, Tim Tebeila Foundation in their collaboration of Usher’s New Look Foundation, whose vision to empower the youth holistically ties in with theirs, five local students have been selected to join the conference.

Youth philanthropy day gets multimillion-dollar boost: The five-year RBC sponsorship, announced in Toronto, will provide the means to bring We Day to Calgary, Halifax and Ottawa, as well as current cities Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Waterloo and Winnipeg, Kielburger said.

Students from seven high schools took part in the foundation's annual Vital Youth program, which provided each group with $2,500 to distribute to federally registered charities operating on Vancouver Island.

‘‘It all started in June 2010 when I accompanied my family on a trip to both Tanzania and Kenya,’’ he said.
‘‘After living and playing with the children [there] my love for them was permanently encrypted on my soul.’’
