Young philanthropists give back - Winkler Times - Manitoba, CA: "The Garden Valley Collegiate Youth in Philanthropy (YiP) group has several holiday fundraisers coming up this month.
On Friday, Dec. 19 from 4:30-10 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 20 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., YiP students will be at the Southland Mall selling African-made beads for the BeadforLife program.
BeadforLife hires poverty-stricken Ugandan women to turn recycled paper into colourful beaded jewelry, which is then sold overseas to help fund various community development projects in Africa. Necklaces and bracelets are available in a range of colours and sizes, and sell for between $7-$32."
