North Bay News and Weather on BayToday.ca: "West Ferris Secondary School juniors won the Canada-wide Youth Philanthropy Initiative competition, garnering $5000 for the Near North Palliative Care Network. The Youth Philanthropy Initiative is designed to help Grade 9 and 10 students become active agents of positive change by demonstrating community leadership through education and practical experience. Competitors thoroughly research the community organization of their choice and prepare a request for funding. Maria, Maddison and Carly chose to compete on behalf of the Near North Palliative Care Network (N/PS) which seeks to enhance the comfort, dignity and quality of life of individuals with a terminal illness, and to offer bereavement support throughout the community."
