Chili for Chile event planned at North Hunterdon High School on Jan. 11 | NJ.com: CLINTON TWP. -- The North Hunterdon High School Spanish Club and Interact & Able Club will host their second annual Chili for Chile event on Jan. 11.
The event aims to raise money to help rebuild workshops for the Mapuche women weavers, who lost everything in the 8.8 earthquake of 2010.
Chili, all the fixings and beverages will be served from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the North Hunterdon High School cafeteria. Tickets cost $7.

Philanthropic Opportunity for CCHS Students - Concord, MA Patch: Youth in Philanthropy is a hands-on program that teaches high school youth the fundamentals of grant making, giving back to the community, and the nonprofit world. Program participants work together as a board with the opportunity to review grant applications, conduct site tours and interviews, collaborate to raise funds, and make final recommendations on how grant funding will be distributed throughout the community. Record-shattering charity drive stuns QND teacher - Quincy Herald-Whig | Illinois & Missouri News, Sports: As longtime government teacher Bill Starkey geared up for the final installment of his longstanding Christmastime charity collection at Quincy Notre Dame High School, he "wanted to go out with a bang," he admitted.
"After 19 years, I think we totaled, like, $18,400," Starkey, who will retire in May after 40 years of teaching, said. "I thought, wouldn't it be neat to go out with 20 grand for 20 years?"

Winters college student wins awards for cerebral palsy advocacy work - Daily Democrat Online: Rodriguez has won several other awards in the past year.
She was named the 2011 Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy by the Association of Fundraising Professionals California Capital Chapter at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon in November. This spring, she received the Youth Volunteer Award at Community Services Planning Council's People Helping People Awards Luncheon and received the Youth Volunteer Spirit Award from the Volunteer Center of Sacramento.

Citizenship project in class inspired North Cow Creek student � Redding Record Searchlight: Triston Ortiz had heard his family talk for years about a charity his cousin's girlfriend runs that gathers toys for impoverished children.
Then three weeks ago when he put together a class project about what citizenship means, something clicked.
"I heard that (she) was donating (soccer) balls to kids that hardly have anything," the 8-year-old Triston said. "So I wanted them to be able to have fun like me."
