Record-shattering charity drive stuns QND teacher - Quincy Herald-Whig | Illinois & Missouri News, Sports: As longtime government teacher Bill Starkey geared up for the final installment of his longstanding Christmastime charity collection at Quincy Notre Dame High School, he "wanted to go out with a bang," he admitted.
"After 19 years, I think we totaled, like, $18,400," Starkey, who will retire in May after 40 years of teaching, said. "I thought, wouldn't it be neat to go out with 20 grand for 20 years?"
Try nearly 27 grand.
