Charleston, SC Latest Local News: Good Morning Lowcountry: "Congratulations also to Vasanth Kuppuswamy, 18, of Charleston. Kuppuswamy is being honored as one of America's most caring young adults this morning at the Frederick Douglass Museum & Hall of Fame for Caring Americans on Capitol Hill.
The National Caring Award, which is given annually, is not his first honor.
Kuppuswamy, a senior at Academic Magnet School, has won the William R. Simms Award for Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy, the Barron Prize for Young Heroes, the Prudential Spirit of Community Award, the President's Volunteer Service Award and a Jefferson Award for Public Service."
