Midland High Students in Philanthropy Help Build Habitat For Humanity House: MIDLAND--Midland High School Students in Philanthropy showed their dedication when it comes to helping Saturday as they worked with the Midland Habitat for Humanity to build a house.

It's not every day you find a large group of teenagers willing to wake up early on a Saturday morning knowing they'll be doing manual labor.

"Just that fact that I get the opportunity to help out it feels really good to me," said Midland HS Student in Philanthropy Jodi Wright.

2 Groups Get $50,000 Each to Mobilize Volunteers - Innovation - The Chronicle of Philanthropy- Connecting the nonprofit world with news, jobs, and ideas: The groups—Generation Citizen, a nonprofit that works to promote youth activism through civics education, and Ubelong, a business that places volunteers in developing countries—were selected as most “investment-ready” by their peers after they all completed a 12-week boot camp, according to an announcement by Points of Light, a nonprofit that promotes volunteerism.

Philanthropy contest deadline approaches: COLUMBUS — Youths and young adults looking to make a positive impact in the community can get a financial boost toward that end through a new contest.

The Columbus Area Philanthropy Council and Columbus Area Community Foundation Fund are introducing the Youth Philanthropy Contest.

Targeting those in kindergarten through age 22, the contest will award eight $1,000 grants to winners to implement their projects.

Sports: Toocheck will run in Antartica for a good reason, working toward a goal of raising $1 million for the charity Operation Warm, started by Toocheck's grandfather, which raises money for coats for children who can’t afford them. In that way, running a marathon in Antarctica makes perfect thematic sense. Toocheck also estimates that he will have to run 1 million steps to complete the seven marathons on seven continents. So, there’s another thematic fit.
