Anna is the founder and chairperson of the nonprofit Corina Field Carroll Fund, named for her late mother, a pediatrician.

Making time to teach that charity can be a habit and not a one-time event may seem like a monumental task for parents and caregivers who are busy with work and child rearing. Michigan State University Extension recommends encouraging children of some simple ways that families can integrate a “giving” attitude into their daily routine and way of life.

Gerardi named Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy - New Canaan News: Janelle K. Gerardi, a New Canaan Girl Scout and the 2013 Gold Award recipient, has been named Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy as part of National Philanthropy Day in Connecticut.

Gerardi was recognized at the Connecticut Conference Awards Banquet at the Trumbull Marriott Nov. 15. The 2013 Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy honor is given to an "individual or group of young people, ages 5 to 17, who demonstrate outstanding commitment to the community through direct financial support, development of charitable programs, volunteering and leadership in philanthropy."

New Kids on the Clock; Joe Saxton on the rise in youth volunteering and its impact on society | nfpSynergy: Our recent research showed that volunteering among young people (16-24) has doubled over the last decade. In 2003, around 14% of young people had volunteered in the last 3 months and by 2013 this figured has reached 32% in our polling. Indeed, as recently as 2010 our data showed that only 16% were giving their time and after that we saw an almost continuous rise.

So what is causing this rise and what does it mean for young people and society
