'Arizona Gives Day' encourages donations to strapped nonprofits - CBS 5 - KPHO: "There's really a lack of community-service opportunities for students who need it most," said Adam Rubin with RENEW. Rubin recognized the need for kids and teens in low-income areas to make their communities better. So he and a partner started holding leadership workshops in Tanzania.
"They performed a school cleanup and actually donated to the school trash cans, brooms, and engaged over 600 students at this school," Rubin said.
Now Rubin is bringing what he learned back home. He'll host a workshop this July with 20 Phoenix high schoolers."
